An avid reader as a child, I took to writing very naturally, but not necessarily purposefully. I never thought, "I want to be a writer." But after decades of keeping up a semi-public blog and writing daily copy & content for The Hideout Theatre & Coffee House, I was asked to write as a guest for The Austin Chronicle.
After 10 years of crafting improvised plays on stage, I began writing my own plays in 2012, and I haven't stopped since. And, unlike many playwrights, all of my plays have been performed.
Lately, I've been specializing in murder mysteries (due to some fun paid commission work), but most genres appeal to me - my award-winning internationally touring theatre company Parallelogramophonograph has honed and refined again and again the art of improvising a play on the spot.
Full Length Plays
We've staged every genre imaginable and have taken our approach on the road to over 50 cities and 8 countries since we began the company in 2005.
Storytelling is in my bones.
Characters of all kinds are already in my mind.
I make up 90-minute plays with no prep every single week. Moving into writing fiction has been so natural and such a unique undertaking for me. I've always got a few project ideas of my own in the works, but I also take writing commissions.
